IT'S NOT OVER YET: CEMEX MAKES ONE LAST PUSH

The County and Cemex agreed on a Deed Restriction to prevent mining of Jesse Morrow Mountain at the December 2012 Board of Supervisors meeting.

FJMM has been notified the Deed Restriction was recorded on January 4, 2013. In exchange for this Deed Restriction, the hearing on the Final EIR was postponed until 2013. Pat Mitchell attorney for Cemex confirmed the request for the final hearing had not been decided upon; but would not take place in January.

Please check the website and we will post the hearing date on the Final EIR.

AGGREGATE DISTRIBUTION PLAN COULD SUPPLY COUNTY

Cemex will proceed full speed ahead with its plan to mine Jesse Morrow Mountain despite a Sanger businessman's contention that his expanded rail distribution center can provide all the aggregate the area needs.

Roger Van Groningen said that his company, specializing in transportation and storage services, could begin bringing aggregate by rail to the area in 90 days at an expanded distribution center near Selma. He said his development has potential to put off the need for mining at Jesse Morrow Mountain.
