An opportunity to provide written comments directly to County staff will be available from 6:00 pm to 7:30 pm Thursday October 8, 2009 at the Sanger High School Multi-Purpose Room, located at 1045 Bethel Avenue, Sanger, CA 93657. The primary objective is to distribute DEIR information and material and to receive written comments on the document. There will not be a formal presentation or Question & Answer session. Fresno County Board of Supervisors approved the Calaveras Project on 8/12/08 by a margin of 3 to 2, Judy Case and Henry Perea dissenting.

Recent Actions
- Sanger/Centerville Cal-Mat/Vulcan August 28, 2007, certification of the Final Environmental Impact Report for the Sanger/Centerville Aggregate Operation Expansion Project and the approval of the Project. The project will expand the existing 220-acre Sanger-Centerville aggregate mining operation as permitted by CUP Nos. 1466 & 1656 onto an adjacent 440 acres. The project will change the method of extraction from dry mining to wet mining phased over a period of 50 years and increase sales from about one million tons per year to 2.5 million tons per year. (Fresno County Board of Supervisors meeting 8/28/07).
- Kings River Calaveras Materials- August 12, 2008, certification of the Final Environmental Impact Report for the Kings River/ Aggregate Operation and the approval of the Project. The Project, Conditional Use Permit (CUP) Application No. 3052, allows sand and gravel extraction and processing facility on 315-acre portion of 457-acre site located in AL-20, O and RC-40 Districts on south side of Goodfellow Avenue, between Riverbend alignment and Cameron Slough, approximately 1.5 miles southeast of City of Sanger. Wet mining operation phased over 30 years and sales about one million tons per year. (Fresno Board of Supervisors meeting 8/12/08). Fresno Planning Commission has requested more information from CMI regarding financial consideration for the Good fellow Bridge upgrade along with other issues to be reappraised at the February 7, 2008 Planning Commission Meeting.
- Jesse Morrow Mountain Draft EIR is to be published in February 2008.
